Much like his cannabis-happy counterpart — and bona fide hip hop legend — Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa definitely deserves his flowers while he’s still here. The Pittsburgh star has given us some of the best music to vibe to over the past two decades, creating a solid fanbase with his Taylor Gang movement and carving out his own permanent space within the culture.

Despite his last official album (the 25-song deep Rolling Papers 2) being released some two years ago, Wiz has remained consistent with his steady flood of loose tracks, mixtapes and collaborative releases — most notably last year’s 2009, alongside longstanding peer Curren$y, and the more compilation-esque Fly Times, Vol. 1: The Good Fly Young.

He’s also returned to making music for the big screen, dropping “Speed Me Up” with Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Yachty and Sueco The Child for the forthcoming Sonic The Hedgehog film (he previously scored a number one with the Furious 7 cut “See You Again” in 2015).

This week, the Taylor Gang head honcho blesses the masses with a new EP titled It’s Only Weed Bro, which features seven songs that’s perfect to ride to and — most importantly — smoke to. In textbook Wiz fashion, the scene is set from the start of the first track, “Ain’t S*** Changed”:

Smokin’ weed and livin’ how I’m s’posed to be/

The police don’t say s*** when they approach me/

Different day, a different coast/

I’m doin’ s*** the way I’m s’possed to.../

The production matches the subject matter, as Wiz can be heard rapping over some classic instrumentals — from JAY-Z’s “Dear Summer” to Common’s “The 6th Sense.” He even jumps on Mobb Deep’s “Survival of the Fittest” without missing a single step.

Press play on It’s Only Weed Bro above. Presumably, fans can expect plenty more from Wiz Khalifa and his Taylor Gang counterparts before year’s end.
