Monica, Leona Lewis and more are paying their respects after it was reported that famed singer-songwriter Andrea Martin sadly passed away. As reported by REVOLT, the multi-talented star died yesterday (Sept. 27). She was 49 years old.

On Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 28), Martin’s former collaborators reflected on their time together. Martin penned hits for Leona Lewis, Monica, Toni Braxton, En Vogue, SWV, Jennifer Hudson, Melanie Fiona, Angie Stone and more throughout her career.

“‘Before You Walk Out Of My Life’ has always had a special place in my heart,” Monica wrote on Twitter, referring to her and Martin’s 1995 hit. “Now it has a deeper meaning for the incredibly talented songwriter. Rest well Andrea Martin. We love you always.”

On Instagram, Lewis posted about working with Martin on her 2008 song, “Better in Time” and said the songwriter was “truly a musical force.”

“Last night I sat at my piano & felt drawn to sing ‘Better in Time.’ I played it through a number of times as it was the only song my heart felt like singing,” she wrote on Monday. “This morning I woke up to the heartbreaking news that Andrea Martin, who wrote this song, had passed away. I’m deeply saddened that such a light has been lost. Andrea was truly a musical force & wrote some of my favorite songs that touched the core of my soul. Thank you for sharing your music with me and the world angel. Thank you for giving me the gift of ‘Better in Time.’ Rest in love.”

Via their Instagram Stories, SWV’s Coko and Taj also mourned the loss of Martin. Her longtime writing partner Ivan Matias wrote on Instagram, “Rest in Paradise To Andrea Martin. My childhood friend & songwriting partner. She was extraordinary.”

As reported, Martin’s passing was announced yesterday via a statement on her Instagram page.

“Andrea will always be remembered for her passion and dedication to her family and friends. Her impact will continue to be felt and heard for a lifetime,” it read. “We thank you in advance for your condolences, love, compassion and understanding during this time.”
