A snippet of Busta Rhymes addressing a St. Louis crowd is going viral. On June 19, the “Break Ya Neck” rapper performed as the surprise headliner for the Seoul Tacos 10th Anniversary Block Party in the Missouri city, which was one of the area’s largest in-person concerts since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a clip from the show that began trending on Twitter Tuesday afternoon (Aug. 24), Busta offered fans his thoughts on the Coronavirus and pandemic safety measures, like wearing masks.

“This is my second show in front of human life in the last 15 fucking months,” the 49-year-old told the cheering crowd. “COVID can suck a dick. All these little weird-ass government policies and mandates [can] suck a dick.”

Busta further claimed that government and business-imposed mandates to wear masks are an attempt to “take our civil liberties away.”

“It’s called the God-given right of freedom, right?” he continued onstage. “No human being is supposed to tell you that you can't even breathe. Fuck your mask... We can’t eat food with a fucking mask on. We can’t even see each other’s smiles with a mask on.”

“All of that energy gets blocked when our mask is on and energy is important. We are all conductors of fucking good energy,” he added.

To close out his speech, Busta apologized for getting “a little political,” saying, “but I miss my people.”

Over the weekend, the Grammy-nominated rapper also performed at Hot 97’s Summer Jam, joining forces with Swizz Beatz, Lil’ Kim, Remy Ma and others for a star-studded tribute to the late DMX. The New Jersey festival also saw performances by the likes of Polo G, DaBaby, Meek Mill, Migos, Saweetie, Moneybagg Yo, Bobby Shmurda and more.
