Foxy Brown is preparing for the release of her upcoming book. Recently, the Ill Na Na emcee took to her Instagram Story to share that she has a book on the way. “Book coming soon,” she wrote before announcing December as the month of her anticipated launch date. She also tagged former editor-in-chief of The Source, Kim Osorio, who informed her followers that she was helping the emcee tell her story.

“20 YEARS later and still the most controversial book to come out in hip hop,” Osorio wrote alongside a screenshot of Foxy’s post. “Still written by ME. I only write the best stories.”

“Get scared,” the New York rapper wrote under the post. In a second comment, she expressed her love for Osorio. No further details about the book have been revealed.

Foxy has been out of the spotlight, focusing on her role as a mother, but her contributions to hip hop are not unnoticed. In 1996, months after she signed to Def Jam Records, she released her debut album, Ill Na Na. With songs like “I’ll Be” featuring JAY-Z and “Get Me There,” the album debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 album charts and was later certified platinum. She followed up with her platinum-selling sophomore project Chyna Doll and Broken Silence before taking what would be a years-long hiatus from music.

Though it’s been nearly two decades since she dropped her own music, Foxy featured on Nas’ Grammy award-winning project King’s Disease and dropped a few bars on “Coco Chanel,” a song off Nicki Minaj’s Queen project. Her legendary bars have also made her a desired contender on Timbaland and Swizz Beatz’s Verzuz platform.

Months ago, fans got excited after word spread of a possible Verzuz between Foxy and fellow Brooklyn emcee Lil Kim. Swizz chimed in on the conversation to shut down the rumors, noting that the battle had not been confirmed.
