JAY-Z will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this fall. The organization's CEO and President Greg Harris announced the 2021 class of inductees on Wednesday (May 12).

“It’s a diverse group of extremely talented artists, all who have had a significant impact on our sonic landscape,” Harris said of the inductees.

JAY was nominated for induction for the first time this February. According to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame rules, artists can only be nominated for induction once their first record has turned 25 years old. Hov’s debut album Reasonable Doubt was released in 1996, making him eligible for induction this year.

Besides the hip hop billionaire, Harris announced that Tina Turner, the Queen of Rock ‘n Roll herself, will also be inducted into the prestigious Hall. Both Turner and JAY were nominated and inducted into the Hall’s Performers Category.

LL Cool J, who was nominated for his sixth time back in February, will also be inducted along with two other artists in the Hall’s new Musical Excellence category. Another category debuting this year is Early Influence, under which Gil-Scott Heron, Kraftwerk and Charley Patton will be inducted.

“This diverse class of talented inductees reflects the Hall’s ongoing commitment to honor artists whose music created the sound of youth culture,” John Sykes, chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, said in a press statement. “It will make for an unforgettable live celebration of music in October at this year’s Induction Ceremony in Cleveland.”

The 2021 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio on Oct. 30. The ceremony will later air on HBO and be available to stream on HBO Max. See the full 2021 induction class in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s announcement video below.
