FBG Duck affiliate BCR Meezle was shot and killed early Saturday morning (Feb. 6) in Bloomingdale, Illinois. According to Bloomingdale police, the 27-year-old Chicago rapper, who is also allegedly Duck’s cousin, was attending a party at the Indian Lakes Hotel at the time of the shooting.

Police arrived at the scene around 2:35 a.m. local time and reportedly found multiple gunshot victims. Meezle was rushed to the St. Alexius Medical Center Emergency Room, where he was pronounced dead less than an hour later.

Bloomingdale Public Safety Director Frank Giammarese said in a statement that at least six people were injured during the shooting. However, it’s unknown whether or not the gunmen and victims knew each other.

“There was some type of incident that transpired from either one person from one group and one person to another, but it appears that there were a couple of different groups attending different events at the hotel,” Giammarese said. “I don’t know if [it was] a party. I don’t have all those details, but it was a couple of groups of people and something transpired and that’s when the shooting took place, mostly in the hallways at the hotel.”

Bloomingdale Mayor Franco Coladipietro attributed the violent scene to the lack of security at the hotel.

“The unfortunate incident that occurred this morning may have been avoided if security was present, as First Hospitality Group had promised in our meetings,” he said in a statement.

The mayor added that officials “have shared our concerns with the lack of consistent security presence at the hotel” for years and said the city would begin the legal process to revoke the hotel’s business license.

Meezle’s passing marks the latest in a string of tragic deaths to hit the Chicago rap community. In August, Meezle’s friend and alleged cousin FBG Duck died from gunshot wounds after he was the victim of a drive-by shooting. Three months later, Chicago up-and-comer King Von was sadly shot and killed in Atlanta.

We at REVOLT send our condolences to Meezle’s friends, fans and family at this time. Rest in peace.
