Cardi B has a lot to celebrate as her newest single “Up” debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The Invasion of Privacy emcee took to Twitter on Tuesday (Feb. 16) to celebrate the news. “Just landed and my wifi back poppin,” she tweeted. “I want to say thank you to all my fans and supporters. This is BIG for me. I wanted to beat my last solo single number & I over succeeded. First time a female rapper debut top 5 since Lauren. This is pop girl shit, but I’m not pop.”

Cardi then said that she was emotional last week after seeing criticism on social media about her music career.

“At the beginning of last week, I was crying because one single post put my confidence down,” she wrote. “‘She needs promo, she’s a flop, she needs help’ — erasing the fact I been constantly winning. I had to brush it off, remind myself I beat records with my last record & now boom. Chart too high.”

According to Chart Data, “Up” has become Cardi’s ninth top 10 single on the Hot 100 chart. The track also marks the highest debut for a solo female rap song since Lauryn Hill hit No. 1 in 1998. So far, the single is the second-biggest debut of 2021.

Last week, the Bronx rapper explained the meaning behind the song. During an interview on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Cardi says she first heard the phrase “it’s up, and it’s stuck” from her husband Offset. “After the song came out, I thought it was like a Georgia thing. But then people is like, ‘No, we say that in New Orleans. We say that in Florida,’” she said. “So, have you ever taken a poop, right, and it don’t come out? It’s just up and it’s stuck. Yeah.”

“It’s a metaphorical quote,” she added.
