Cardi B is defending her parenting decisions after a resurfaced video drew criticism from fans.

The clip, which was originally from an August Instagram livestream, shows the Bronx-bred rapper dancing and singing along to her and Megan Thee Stallion’s chart-topping collaboration “WAP” before her 2-year-old, Kulture, bursts into the room. To stop her daughter from hearing the song’s explicit lyrics, Cardi rushes to turn off the track in a hilariously relatable way.

However, on Monday night (Jan. 4), one Twitter user shared the Instagram clip and criticized Cardi for releasing the explicit single in the first place.

“So ya daughter can’t listen to it but everybody else’s daughter can?” they tweeted. “AW OKAY! Exactly what I been saying you have an agenda to push with that trash ass label [you’re] with. DISGUSTING.”

Cardi responded to the tweet and reiterated that the platinum-selling single was made for adult listeners and that it’s parents’ responsibility to limit what their children are exposed to.

“Ya needs to stop with this already! I’m not [singer Jojo Siwa]!” she tweeted. “I don’t make music for kids I make music for adults. Parents are responsible on what their children listen [to] or see. I’m a very sexual person but not around my child just like every other parent should be.”

She added in a follow-up tweet: “There’s moms who are strippers. Pop pussy, twerk all night for entertainment does that mean they do it around their kids? No! Stop makin this a debate. [It’s] pretty much common sense.”

“WAP” faced disapproving comments from a few critics when it was first released, but has gone on to top the Billboard Hot 100 and earn placement on many publications’ end-of-year lists. The song is not currently up for Grammys consideration, but that’s only because Cardi decided not to submit any music to the awards show until her sophomore album is complete.
