Spinderella’s issues with Salt-N-Pepa came to a head over the weekend after the debut of the group's biopic on Lifetime. While she hasn’t been a part of the group for two years, the former DJ for Salt-N-Pepa felt it was necessary to share her thoughts on the film.

On Friday (Jan. 22), Spinderella hit up her Twitter account to denounce the biopic. In a series of tweets, the DJ, who joined the crew shortly after it was established, vented about the way the production of the film was handled and called out Lifetime for not allowing her to connect with Monique Jasmine Paul, the actress who played her.

“Back when Salt n’ Pepa was building our legacy, which is rooted in empowering women, I could not have dreamed that this same group would one day disempower me,” Spinderella tweeted. “Words cannot fully express my disappointment when I learned a decision was made to move forward with a Lifetime biopic that wrongfully excluded me from every aspect of development and production...”

“All the while using my image throughout, given that I played an integral role in the group’s story and success,” she continued. “There’s nothing more unacceptable than a woman being silenced by another woman. It is for this reason, I will not be supporting it. I do, however, want to offer a huge congratulations to the talented actresses that represented us, including Monique Paul, who I wish would’ve been given an opportunity to share my true perspective with.”

Spinderella’s issues with the group started when she was fired in 2019. Afterward, Spinderella sued Cheryl “Salt” James and Sandra “Pepa” Denton over allegations of unpaid royalties. The case eventually went to mediation. Despite her character’s inclusion in the story, Spinderella claims she was excluded from the development and production of the biopic. See what else she had to say about the film below.
