On Saturday (May 2), Beyoncé shared a sweet message to Megan Thee Stallion’s late mother, who passed away from a brain tumor last March. On her website, Queen Bey shared a photo of a young Megan and her mother embracing each other. Keeping her message short and sweet, Beyoncé wrote, “Honoring Holly.”

The sweet post came after Megan penned a heartfelt message to her mother on Instagram. “Happy birthday mama,” she began. “I miss you everyday! I know you’re watching over me rooting for me and keeping me going. I don’t have you physically here telling me what I should do so I’ve been trying to figure it out on my own remembering all the advice and lessons you’ve taught me before. You are such a strong woman and I promise to make you proud and be one too! We love you Holly!”

Throughout her career, Megan has spoken candidly about her mother’s influence on her music. During an interview with Rolling Stone, the “Hot Girl Summer” spitter recalled her mom’s reaction after she explained that she wanted to become a rapper. “I went home and told her I could rap and she was like, ‘No you can’t,’” Megan explained. “I’m like, ‘Yes I can.’ I started rapping and she was like ‘Oh my god! No, you not coming out ‘til you’re 21!’”

Earlier this week, Megan and Beyoncé broke the internet after releasing “Savage (Remix)” to streaming platforms. Shortly after the song’s debut, Megan hopped on Instagram Live to talk about the track in more detail. “It’s really crazy cause like, my mama was like a really huge fan of like Beyoncé and she used to make me watch a lot of Beyoncé stuff,” she said while wiping away her tears. “And it’s like, when I met her I was like, ‘Oh my God.’ And I ain’t wanna be like, ‘Oh my God Beyoncé me and my mama love you.’”
