Ice Cube has canceled his scheduled appearance on “Good Morning America” this morning (May 28) following the tragic death of George Floyd. The “It Was A Good Day” rapper took to Twitter to share the news with his followers.

“I apologize to everyone expecting to see me on ‘Good Morning America’ today, but after the events in Minnesota with George Floyd I’m in no mood to tell America, ‘Good morning,’” he tweeted.

A fan then responded to Cube’s tweet telling him that he could've used that platform to bring awareness to the situation. The former N.W.A. MC responded, “I’m done talking. These people know right from wrong and they obviously don’t care. So, what we talking about?”

Floyd’s death has garnered national attention. The unarmed 46-year-old black man was murdered at the hands of four Minneapolis police officers after they responded to a 911 call about him allegedly trying to forge a check in a grocery store.

His killing was caught on camera and people around the country are protesting for justice. In the viral video, you can see one officer pinning Floyd down by his neck with his knee. Two other officers pinned him down by his legs and arms. A fourth officer stood and watched the ordeal happen as he tried to control the crowd. Floyd said that he couldn’t breathe multiple times, but all of his calls went unanswered. Witnesses were even heard asking the officer to get his knee off of his neck. Eventually, Floyd became unconscious and was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died.

The four officers have been fired, but none of them have been arrested or charged with his death. The US Justice Department just announced that it has made the federal investigation into Floyd’s death a “top priority.”
