“I saw that a lot of people kind of misconstrued or didn’t really understand what it was that I was saying,” he said.

Saturday (May 16) night’s Verzuz battle between Nelly and Ludacris was one for the books. The pair overcame weather issues and technical problems to give fans an amazing night of music.

Before the battle officially kicked off, Ludacris previewed a new single to the hundreds of thousands of viewers. On the unreleased track titled “Silence of the Lambs,” Luda dropped bars about loving R. Kelly, but not wanting him to be around his young daughters.

“The world crazy, niggas pouring drinks like Cliff Huxtable/ I love R. Kelly, but around my daughters, I am not comfortable,” he rapped on the song.

The lyrics were met with mixed reviews from Verzuz viewers on social media.

Twitter user @dessalean tweeted, “If you’re triggered by that R. Kelly bar from Ludacris turn off the battle and stfu, Hip Hop ain’t for you.”

Social media user @yourfavrwandan tweeted, “When Ludacris said, ‘I love R Kelly, but around my daughters I ain’t comfortable’ ... I didn’t [feel] that at all #LudacrisvsNelly.”

The “Splash Waterfalls” rapper finally addressed the criticism during an interview with Big Tigger on V103 Atlanta.

“Sometimes when you speak on records, you speakin’ like it’s just me and you having a conversation as friends,” he said. “But, you just speaking and just being honest. I saw that a lot of people kind of misconstrued or didn’t really understand what it was that I was saying.”

Luda then asked Big Tigger what he believed he meant with his lyrics, to which he replied, “You probably meant, ‘I love his music and what he brought to the table, but I’m a father of daughters and [he’s] not going to be around my daughters.’”

The Word Of Mouf MC agreed saying, “You’re a smart man. It’s that simple.”
