Mac P Dawg was reportedly gunned down in Los Angeles on Monday night (April 6). The Shoreline Mafia affiliate, who recently collaborated with Doley Bernays on “Salt Shaker,” was only 23 years old.

Adam22 first reported the sad news on Twitter, writing, “Shoreline Mafia associate [Mac P Dawg] was gunned down in LA tonight. Rest In Peace.”

Shoreline Mafia members Ohgeesy and Fenix Flexin confirmed Mac’s death and paid tribute to the late rapper on social media.

“LUV U FOREVER,” Ohgeesy wrote. “Speechless bro love u always, macpforever,” Fenix posted on Instagram, along with a series of photos.

The news arrives shortly after Fenix had announced he was going to leave Shoreline Mafia after the group’s next album.

“Got nun but love for my ni**as Nd what we’ve accomplished but this new album will be my last with shoreline as a group,” he’d written on Twitter. “Moving forward w my individual career Nd visions for myself Nd where I wanna be.”

Born in East Hollywood, Mac first met Fenix in high school and began making music. He and Fenix released their collaborated single “Half N Half” in 2017. Last year, Mac teamed up with Ohgeesy for another hit called, “Let Me Know.”

Speaking with Hype Magazine last May, the Los Angeles-based upstart detailed his music industry dreams.

“I’m just a 23-year-old Hispanic based outta L.A. doing what I gotta do to support my family,” he told the outlet. “I can’t do what I’m doing right now to get money forever so I gotta move on to something I’m more passionate about. I was always into music so that had to be my go to. Now I’m confident that this what I gotta do.”

Mac also revealed he’d been working on putting together his debut mixtape.

“I got a bunch of songs in the vault that I want to put together as a tape, I think that would be a great introduction to new listeners,” he said. “But for a song out right now, I think ‘Breakdown’ tells a lot about how I live as an artist.”
