On Thursday (April 23), Teyana Taylor took over Red Bull Music’s Instagram Live for a virtual screening of her new documentary, Assembly Required: Teyana Taylor’s House of Petunia

described as an “unfiltered look into the creative process for Teyana’s iconic performance at Red Bull Music Festival New York.”

During her Instagram takeover, the G.O.O.D. Music signee also hosted a Q&A session with her friend and dance collaborator Coco Gilbert, where she dropped some details about her forthcoming album.

“We’ve been working on the album,” Taylor said. “The album is done—that’s why I look crazy right now. Before I got on with y’all, we literally just did the listening of the album. Y’all gonna be so happy.”

“This album is definitely more of a vibe. I don’t really do fast songs like that,” she continued. “There are some head-boppers. It’s not super-fast. You can dance and you can cry and you can ride.”

Last fall, Taylor announced that her next project would be called The Album. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, she said The Album would differ from her 2018 Kanye West-executive produced project K.T.S.E., which she said she was too short.

“It’s not about not liking it,” she said. “It’s about the fact that it was not long enough, verses were taken out, a lot of stuff I didn’t know happened with my album until I actually heard the album like everybody else.”

Taylor also told the outlet she’s “ready to get sh*t done on my own” for The Album and that she planned to focus on “fixing what didn’t work the first time, getting a better rollout, more records, longer records… just giving everybody more.”

Besides K.T.S.E. — which also saw vocal appearances from West and Mykki Blanco — The Album will also follow Taylor’s 2014 effort, VII. The album included collaborations with Pusha T, Yo Gotti, Fabolous and Chris Brown.

Most recently, Taylor dropped off her video for her Lauryn Hill-assisted track, “We Got Love.” Revisit the vibrant clip below.
