Celebrities are asking for Alabama Governor Kay Ivey to put a stay on tonight’s planned execution of Nathaniel Woods.

Woods was convicted of capital murder in 2005 after three police officers were fatally shot while executing a warrant for Woods in a crack house in Birmingham. A fourth officer that was also shot, survived and testified against Woods.

Kerry Spencer told officers that he was the one who shot the officers after they stormed into the crack house that he was sleeping in. Spencer says that Woods wasn’t involved and ran when the gunfire took place.

“Nate is absolutely innocent,” said Spencer, who also is on Alabama’s death row. “That man didn’t know I was going to shoot anybody just like I didn’t know I was going to shoot anybody that day, period.”

T.I. has joined in the fight to save Woods’ life. In an Instagram post, he shared a photo of Woods and pleaded for people to contact Governor Ivey to put a stay on the execution.

He wrote, “ATTN A man’s LIFE IS AT STAKE We don’t have time to waste... go to SaveNate.com to find out how to contact the gov of Alabama to stop an innocent mans lynching by way of execution. WE MUST ACT NOW!!! This ain’t about race or politics...this about FAIR AND DECENT HUMAN BEINGS STANDING UP FOR WHATS RIGHT ‼️.”

He continued, “Go to my story and watch my live with @shaunking for more details. Love & Light to all who deserve it.... Especially Nathan Woods✊ We out here fighting for you King!!! Stay encouraged and know that God has the final say!!! Repost & drive this shit to go viral. WE HAVE THE POWER TO SAVE THIS MAN!!!! #USorELSE✊ .”

Kim Kardashian tweeted out her support for Woods by urging fans to join the coalition to urge Governor Ivey and Alabama General Steve Marshall to stay Nathaniel’s execution.

She tweeted, “#NathanielWoods is scheduled to be executed in Alabama TONIGHT for murders he did NOT commit. Join the broad coalition- including members of the jury and relatives of the victims – in urging @GovernorKayIvey and @AGSteveMarshall to stay Nate’s execution.”

Woods is scheduled to be executed by lethal injection tonight (Mar. 5) at 7 pm ET. So far, Governor Ivey has given no indication that she’ll grant a stay.
