Savage Mode 2 — the sequel joint project by 21 Savage and Metro Boomin — has long been teased by both artists. However, according to new social media hints, it appears the collaborated album could arrive as soon as next week.
Last month, Metro included Savage Mode 2 in a roundup tweet of his ongoing projects, also listing The Weeknd’s After Hours and Lil Durk’s No Auto. Then, on Feb. 18, the mega-producer shared a photo of himself and Savage cooking up in the studio. The caption for the picture read “MODE” with two sword emojis.
On Tuesday (March 3), 21 shared the same two sword emojis on Twitter. Later that day, the Atlanta-based rapper reposted a fan’s Instagram Story, in which the fan suggested 21 “drop [Savage Mode 2] on the 13th.” Fans have taken the repost as a hint that 21 and Metro may actually be plotting a March 13 release date for their highly anticipated project.
Although neither artist has officially announced the March release date, this is the first time either of them have nodded toward a specific drop day.

The inaugural Savage Mode arrived in 2016. Several months after dropping the project, the pair revealed that during their Savage Mode recording sessions, they’d captured an additional 20-30 songs, prompting fans to believe that those songs would appear on a follow-up project.
Back in 2019, 21 furthered fans’ suspicion during the Los Angeles stop of his “I Am > I Was Tour.”
“Los Angeles, California, I want to say R.I.P. to Nipsey Hussle. We lost a real soldier,” he told the audience. “Savage Mode 2 on the muthafu*kin’ way.”
If the hints are true, fans can expect Savage Mode 2 to drop next Friday (March 13). Notably, the project would also arrive ahead of 21’s upcoming Coachella and Rolling Loud Miami performances.
