Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony postponed due to coronavirus

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has been postponed due to the as the global outbreak of coronavirus continues, according to Rolling Stone.

Hall of Fame President Joel Peresman released a statement today (Mar. 12). “We are very disappointed to announce the postponement of this year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony,” he said. “Our first concern is to the health and safety of our attendees and artists and we are complying to the direction of the local and state authorities and common sense. We look forward to rescheduling the ceremony and will make that announcement at the earliest convenience.”

The ceremony was scheduled to take place on May 2 at the Public Hall in Cleveland, Ohio. This year’s inductees were the Notorious B.I.G., Whitney Houston, Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, the Doobie Brothers, and T-Rex.

Diddy was beyond excited when he learned that Biggie would be inducted into the Hall of Fame. While screaming into the camera, he had Biggie’s hit record “Juicy” playing as he said, “Whew! Ayo I wanna share this special moment, special announcement with y’all. Biggie you did it! You did it motherfucker! Yeah! The Notorious B.I.G. is going to be inducted into the rock and roll muthafucking hall of fame. What the fuck! What the fuck! Love! We miss you king. New York stand up! Brooklyn, yeah!”

Biggie’s mom Voletta Wallace also shared her excitement about the good news in an Instagram post.

“Brooklyn we did it!!! This is so long overdue,” she wrote. “Thank you to everyone that helped make this happen for Christopher. Love you all.”

Biggie will be joining the likes of other legendary hip hop artists in the Hall of Fame. Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five were the first rap group to be inducted in 2007, followed by Run DMC, the Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, N.W.A. and Tupac Shakur.

So far, the rescheduled date of the ceremony has not been released. We will keep you updated with the latest.
