Meek Mill gave his fans an update on his joint album with the late Nipsey Hussle, during his #AskMeek Q&A session on Twitter.

A fan tweeted him, “#askmeek @MeekMill we still getting that Meek & Nip project? The world need to hear that if possible.” Meek replied, “We never finished it… it’s songs left but they for his family!”

Before Hussle’s untimely death, the two were working on a joint album that was supposed to drop last summer.

“We working right now as we speak,” Hussle said on 92.3 Los Angeles. ”We on album time right now. Next thing we going to put out musically is an album. … We’ve been cutting ideas and just getting in. We got a couple records that’s going to go off for the summer. It’s not hard at all we just got to lock in and get the records done.”

A few weeks after Hussle gave this interview, he was fatally shot outside of his Marathon Clothing store in Los Angeles.

Meek confirmed to Charlamagne Tha God that he and Hussle had 20-30 percent of the album done. In an interview with GQ, he said that they had finished three or four songs. There’s no word on whether or not those records will ever be released.

Meek recently dropped a tribute record to Hussle called “Letter to Nipsey.” The song features Roddy Ricch and the pair performed it during the Nipsey Hussle tribute at the 2020 Grammy Awards. All proceeds from the song will go to Hussle’s family.

In the song he raps, “And I ain’t finna sit here and act like I’m your main homie/But when we lost you it really put some pain on me. Got me scared to go outside without that thing on me/When everybody went against me you ain’t change on me.”
