A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie plans to drop another project before music hiatus

He released ‘Artist 2.0’ earlier this month.

Fresh off the release of his Artist 2.0 album, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie is already thinking about his next project. Despite the rapper previously saying that Artist 2.0 would be his last record for awhile, it appears he’s had a change of heart.

The New York native took to Twitter early Monday morning (Feb. 24) to announce that he plans to drop one more album before taking a hiatus from recording music.

“Thanks to everyone supporting the Album,” he tweeted. “I’m glad you guys respect where I’m going with this sh*t YOU CANT PUT ME IN A CATEGORY! ARTISTRY is EVERYTHING.”

“I wanna drop A boogie VS Artist this year,” he continued. “But only if ya ready. Before I go ghost I wanna flood your ears with straight ART.”

A Boogie vs Artist appears to be the title of the next project in the series, which first started with his 2016 debut mixtape Artist, followed by 2017’s The Bigger Artist, 2018’s International Artist and most recently, Artist 2.0.

The announcement contradicts what A Boogie told fans on Instagram last November.

“[Artist 2.0] might be my last project for a while,” he had written. “I wanna take a break from music after Artist 2.0 tour is over. There’s a lot of things I want to do in life and it’s just moving too fast for me to focus on everything at once. But I will never let my fans down. When you need me most, I’ll be there.”

Despite planning to take a break from music after releasing Artist 2.0, it could be the album’s success that has convinced A Boogie to keep going. The record debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, racking up over 110,000 equivalent album units sold within its first week. This marks the second time A Boogie has debuted at No. 2, following 2018’s Hoodie SZN, which later went on to top the chart.
