Pop Smoke’s record label releases a statement regarding his death

Republic Records, the label home of Pop Smoke, has released a statement.

The world is still devastated by the untimely death of rapper Pop Smoke. The record label that Pop was signed to has released a statement via Twitter.

“We are devastated by the unexpected and tragic loss of @POPSMOKE10. Our prayers and thoughts go out to his family, friends and fans, as we mourn this loss together,” Republic Records tweeted from their official Twitter page.

Pop Smoke was shot and killed in his Hollywood Hills home today (Feb. 19) during a home invasion.

Law enforcement reports that two men wearing hoodies and masks broke into his home around 4:30 a.m. and fired multiple rounds of shots, hitting and critically injuring Pop. The suspects reportedly fled the scene before authorities arrived.

Pop was rushed to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in West Hollywood by ambulance to treat gunshot wounds. He was tragically pronounced dead at the hospital.

The murder suspects have not yet been identified by local authorities. TMZ also reports that it is unknown whether or not Pop knew the home invaders. A man was subsequently handcuffed by police, but was later determined to not be involved in the shooting and was released from custody.

Pop recently released Meet The Woo 2 a few weeks ago. The album had appearances from Quavo, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Fivio Foreign, Lil Tjay and more. He gained national attention through his breakout hit “Welcome to the Party” which even received a verse for the remix from Nicki Minaj.

Many celebrities have expressed their condolences on social media.

“Rip Pop Smoke ppl don’t value life bruh they take so much for granted hope they catch them,” Big Freedia wrote. “Prayers to his family and friends and fans this is crazy.”

“R.I.P to my man Pop Smoke, No sympathy for winners. God bless him,” tweeted 50 Cent.
