Is Nas dropping a new album? According to HotNewHipHop, Big Sean has confirmed that the legendary Queens rapper has some new music in the works. In a video circulating social media, which was captured by HipHopNMore, Sean is pointing the camera at Nas, asking about a new album.

“By the way Nas gonna drop a new album,” Sean can be heard saying in the clip. “I’m putting Nas on blast right now.” Nas then replied, “It be something like that,” he says. “It’s kinda hard to replace me, man.”

In July 2019, Nas released The Lost Tapes 2 compilation album. During an appearance on Trevor Noah’s “The Daily Show,” Nas said at the time, “I really didn’t know what to do these songs because they weren’t really the songs that I wanted to put on a record. They were just sitting there and I always thought I’d come back to them and finish them up later, but it never happened. So I’m sitting here with all these songs starting to pile up and I’m like, ‘Oh I did a Lost Tapes album 17 years ago, I think it’s time for another one.’”

Nas released the Kanye West-produced Nasir album in June of 2018. Shortly after releasing the record, he said during an interview with Angie Martinez that he had another album in the works. “It’s another album that I already had been working on before [NASIR]…Since I did this, I gotta do something that, you know, goes in another direction a little bit. So I’m finishing up the next one,” he said.

When asked about the wait time for the next body of work, Nas said, “No, it’s not gonna be that long because half of it was already there, yeah. I did do something with Swizz, I did stuff with RZA. I’m a big Wu-Tang fan. RZA’s real.”

No word on when to expect this new Nas just yet.
