The stepfather of hip hop group Rae Sremmurd has been shot and killed in Mississippi.
According to TMZ, “Tupelo PD says officers were dispatched Monday night to a home where officers found a man who’d died on the scene from at least a couple gunshot wounds. According to our law enforcement sources ... Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi’s younger half-brother, Michael Sullivan, is being held for psychiatric evaluation. The Lee County Medical Examiner tells TMZ the victim is 62-year-old Floyd Sullivan. He’s Swae and Slim’s stepdad. He’s raised them ever since the boys were in middle school, and moved to Mississippi with their mother, Bernadette. Floyd also has a son, Floyd Jr., from a previous relationship.”
They are currently calling Michael a person of interest in the shooting. Police say that no one else is currently being sought for the shooting. TMZ has reached out to the brothers for comment, but have not heard anything back.
This news comes just days after the group celebrated the 5th anniversary of their debut album, Sremmlife. Slim Jxmmi took to Instagram to salute the album’s release. He wrote, “It’s the 5th anniversary of SremmLife” and posted the album’s cover.
Swae Lee recently vowed to release his solo album after the World War III is over. In an Instagram post he wrote, “I’ll drop my album after the war ✌ praying for the troops.” Swae also announced that he will be joining Post Malone on tour. The “Runaway Tour” kicks off Feb. 4 in Omaha, Nebraska and will go until Mar. 21 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Tyla Yaweh will also be joining Post and Swae on the tour.
We will keep you updated with the latest on the death of their stepfather. The REVOLT family would like to send our deepest condolences to the family at this time.
