During his annual Super Bowl conference, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell announced that Kobe Bryant will be honored at the Super Bowl.

In the video, a reporter asked about whether or not the league will honor Bryant at the Super Bowl. Goodell replied saying that Bryant was “a special person” and says that the league will honor him at the Super Bowl.

There is no word on how the league will honor Bryant this Sunday (Feb. 2).

Bryant will be inducted into the 2020 Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Expected to be arguably the most epic class ever with Bryant, Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett,” Hall of Fame chairman Jerry Colangelo said in a statement. “Kobe will be honored the way he should be.”

The 92nd Oscars will also honor Bryant this year.

The Oscars usually put together an annual “In Memoriam” segment to recognize those who have died in the past year. There’s no word on whether or not Bryant will be honored in that segment, or in another part of the show.

“We can confirm that Kobe Bryant will be acknowledged in the telecast,” the Academy said in a statement today (Jan. 28).

Back in 2018, Bryant’s Dear Basketball won an Oscar for Best Animated Short Film. Dear Basketball was Bryant’s love letter to the game of basketball, which he spent 20 years of his life committed to.

During his acceptance speech he said, “I don’t know if it’s possible. I mean, as basketball players we’re really supposed to shut up and dribble, but I’m glad we do a little bit more than that.”

On Sunday (Jan. 26), Kobe, Gianna, and seven others were traveling by helicopter to a basketball game at Mamba Sports Academy.

Shortly after leaving Santa Ana, the helicopter crashed into a nearby mountain and many believe the heavy fog played a factor in the crash. There were no survivors.
