JAY-Z’s music is back on Spotify

The mogul celebrated his birthday in a big way.

JAY-Z celebrated his 50th birthday on Wednesday (Dec. 4) by bringing his 25-year-spanning discography back to Spotify. With the majority of Hov’s albums removed from streaming services in 2017 and relocated exclusively to his own streaming service, TIDAL, Spotify users are now rejoicing in the return of classic albums like The Black Album, American Gangster and The Blueprint.

Also in celebration of Hov’s 50th, TIDAL will host a video stream, featuring his music videos, interviews and more, beginning at 10 a.m. EST.

Spotify was the first to celebrate the news with a tweet on Wednesday (Dec. 4), writing, “Happy birthday, Hov. Welcome back to Spotify.”

So far, there have been no details as to why JAY decided to return his discography to the streaming service. However, the rap mogul also brought a number of his albums back to Apple Music earlier this year. There’s no telling if the expansion is permanent or temporary, but for now, JAY-Z fans are taking full advantage.

“Jay-z is back on spotify.......today is a great day” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“Jay-Z is back on [Spotify] for his bday? Best believe I’m ON it,” another wrote.

With his entire discography available to stream, fans have no shortage of JAY classics. Beginning with 1996’s Reasonable Doubt and ending with his most recent 4:44, Hov’s expansive career has produced 13 studio albums, headlining tours, film roles, entrepreneurial establishments and philanthropic pursuits.

This year, JAY’s Shawn Carter Foundation inaugural gala helped raise $6 million toward funding post-secondary education opportunities for future students. The foundation, which he launched with his mother Gloria Carter, has been providing financial support and opportunities to low-income students since 2003. Proceeds from his Shawn Carter Foundation gala benefited scholarship funding, college prep programs, international exchange and study abroad opportunities and the organization’s annual HBCU college bus tour.
