The hit show “The Game” will be coming back to our television screens as an hour-long reboot series.

According to Deadline, the 2006 half-hour comedy will return with creator Mara Brock Akil and “American Soul” co-creator Devon Greggory. “The new incarnation of “The Game” will have a new East Coast setting. The Idea is for some of the original cast members to come back for what would be “The Game‘s” second revival. Here are details about the sequel’s premise: “The Game” family was coasting to retirement but they heard the call of the fans to make a comeback… and like the record-breaking winners they are, they decided to pick up and move from a half-hour sitcom in San Diego to a one-hour dramedy in Baltimore. This time, our out-of-touch old-timers are determined to help a bunch of knuckle-head new-schoolers navigate the ruthless game of football on and off the field. They will clash through the pitfalls of fame, fortune and love. Some will win, others will lose, but that’s what happens when you play ‘The Game.’”

“The Game,” a spin-off from Akil’s comedy series “Girlfriends,” was cancelled after three seasons. BET later revived the the show and it stayed on air for six more seasons. The original ensemble cast included Tia Mowry, Pooch Hall, Hosea Chanchez, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Coby Bell, and Brittany Daniel. Lauren London, Jay Ellis and Brandy joined the cast when it aired on BET.

Hall responded ecstatic to the news of the reboot on Instagram. He wrote, “I woke up this morning and realized how #grateful and #blessed I am. I have a family I would die for. When you put out love, live in gratitude and willingness and really want to help others and be of service with no expectations you can have a life beyond your wildest dreams...” He continued, “just the fact that the @thecw is in discussion with @maraakil about #TheGame is amazing. But MY fans and #Game fans your #voice and #support, man I DEEPLY appreciate it and want to send you all a giant #poochhug and being a young black actor in a #tough but #amazing industry living his dream making an honest living and supporting his family... all I can say is #GodisGood... and Thanku...”
