Ahead of his impending sentencing, Tekashi 6ix9ine is attempting to appeal to Judge Paul Engelmayer in a new apologetic letter.

On Wednesday (Dec. 11), TMZ published the letter that 6ix9ine submitted. In it, the controversial rapper pleads for a second chance and condemns his past gang affiliation.

“As my sentencing date approaches, I am becoming more and more overwhelmed with emotions,” the letter begins. “I find it difficult to find the right words to express what my life has been like for the last year. It honestly feels like my world is crashing down. There is no excuse, no justification and no apology good enough in this world to explain my crimes.”

6ix9ine goes on to discuss his former affiliation with the Nine Trey Gangster Bloods, being kidnaped by one of the gang members and finding out that his baby’s mother was stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from him along with his co-defendant, whom she was having an affair with.

“Before my arrest I publicly disassociated myself from Nine Trey but I knew that it would come with a price,” he writes. “I knew from previous incidents that the game would retaliate against me for denouncing them in public.”

The letter ends with the rapper apologizing for his crimes and making a promise to not repeat them, if he’s given a lighter sentence.

“I’m sorry to the victims who were affected by my actions, to my fans who look up to me and were misled, to my family who depends on me and to this courtroom for this mess that I contributed to,” he finishes. “I’m truly sorry for the harm that I’ve caused. If given a second chance, I will not let this Court down and I will dedicate a portion of my life to helping others not make the same mistakes that I’ve made.”

Last week, prosecutors submitted a request to Judge Engelmayer, also asking for lighter sentence for the rapper. They specifically cited 6ix9ine’s helpfulness in being a government informant.

6ix9ine will be sentenced in his racketeering and firearms case next Wednesday (Dec. 18).
