DaBaby made a Kirk tour stop in Toronto on Tuesday night (Dec. 10) and who should appear alongside him but the city’s reigning rap king, Drake.

Drizzy surprised Toronto fans, performing songs like “Money in the Grave” and more.

While he was onstage, Drake also gave a major cosign to DaBaby, whose career he said he’s been following for years.

“2018, 2017, I used to watch you rep your city,” Drake told DaBaby. “I used to watch you love your city. And look, we don’t say this to each other enough as rappers but I wanna say congratulations. You killing this sh*t.”

Drake also gave an update on the status of his forthcoming album.

“I love you with all my heart,” he told the crowd. “I’mma go back to the crib and try to finish this album up so we can turn up in 2020.”

Drake’s been in self-described “album mode” since June. This year, the platinum-selling rapper released his “Omertà” and “Money in the Grave” singles, as well as hopped on PartyNextDoor’s track, “Loyal.” Drake’s most recent album, Scorpion, was released in 2018, although this year he did drop off his Care Package compilation.

At the show, DaBaby added that he’s looking to “pull up” on Drizzy later and “put a verse on the muthafu**in’ album.” The two rappers haven’t worked together before, but Drake’s upcoming project could see this mega collab.

DaBaby is currently up for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards. The Charlotte-bred rapper released two well-received albums this year, Kirk and Baby On Baby, which both included chart-climbing hits and impressive collaborations.

Last week, DaBaby performed at Charlotte’s Winter Block Party via FaceTime, after jet issues prevented him from traveling to his hometown.

“Due to circumstances beyond my control I was unable to make it to my show in my OWN city last night,” he wrote in an Instagram post on Dec. 5. “Paid extra for a jet just to make sure this type of sh*t wouldn’t happen. Although Baby a firm believer in everything happening for a reason, I can’t get over the fact that I let my fans (FAMILY) down by not being able to make it.”

However, the fans were able to hold onto their tickets for a free forthcoming DaBaby make-up show and got to watch the artist perform live on a jumbo screen.
