Monday (Nov. 4), Angie Martinez revealed she’d suffered serious injuries after a “severe” car accident. The “Untold Stories of Hip Hop” host said she’s in the “best spirits possible” and will be taking time off to recover.

“I’ve always believed in angels and mine was with me the other morning,” the Voice of New York wrote on Twitter. “I was in a severe car accident and sustained a fractured lumbar and shattered vertebrae. I’m recovering and will be for some time, but I am extremely grateful to have the opportunity to do that.”

“Wanted you all to hear it from me first and know that although this is a difficult time, I am in the best spirits possible and determined to be back and better than ever soon!” she continued. “God bless and I deeply appreciate all love & prayers.”

The legendary Power 105 host’s WE tv series premiered this September. “Untold Stories of Hip Hop” has currently aired six episodes, featuring guests such as Cardi B, Snoop Dogg, Fat Joe, DJ Khaled, Ice Cube, Queen Latifah, A$AP Rocky and more.

“It’s just the moments [and] the stories,” Martinez previously said of the show on “The Breakfast Club.” “People love a good hip hop story and there’s so many to tell.”

Last month, Martinez appeared on “Drink Champs” to talk about “growing up” in radio, becoming a platform for artists to communicate with their fans and her career-defining moves.

“That’s probably what I’m most proud of,” she said about her long-spanning radio career. “That I had those classic moments and I was lucky enough to be coming up when JAY-Z was starting his career, Nas was around and Wu-Tang, all those artists were coming up when I was coming up… [But] I could [also] sit down across somebody from now—last week I did Blueface, [and] I had a really big interview with Tekashi, before he went away of course.”
