The 2020 Grammy Award nominations arrived Wednesday (Nov. 20) and people have some complaints.

Fans took to Twitter to air their grievances over Lil Nas X’s 7 EP being nominated for Album of the Year and were especially upset that Tyler, the Creator’s IGOR was not.

“Up early thinking about how lil nas’ album is up album of the year AT THE GRAMMYS but tyler the creator’s isnt,” one Twitter user wrote.

Despite not being nominated for Album of the Year, IGOR was nominated for Best Rap Album and earned Tyler his first No. 1 Billboard 200 debut this year.

According to the Recording Academy, an album is defined as “having no less than five different tracks, and having a total playing time of no less than 15 minutes.” Therefore, while Lil Nas X’s 7 is technically an EP, it still qualifies for the award. Also aiding him in the nomination, the “Rodeo” rapper is the album’s primary performing act and he’s credited as a writer on every song.

Some fans were also outraged that Megan Thee Stallion and DaBaby were not nominated for Best New Artist. Although DaBaby grabbed two noms for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for “Suge,” Megan received zero nominations. The nominated artists for Best New Artist are Black Pumas, Billie Eilish, Lil Nas X, Lizzo, Rosalia, Tank and the Bangas, Maggie Rogers and Yola.

“So DaBaby & Megan Thee Stallion didn’t get NOMINATED FOR ANY GRAMMY?” one fan wrote on Twitter. “Not even BEST NEW ARTIST? Yeah that sh*t is a joke been a joke for years!”

However, fans were pleased that Nipsey Hussle returned to this year’s list of nominations. The late rapper gained posthumous noms for Best Rap Performance for his Roddy Ricch and Hit-Boy collaborated “Racks in the Middle” and Best Rap Song for the same track. Nipsey is also nominated for Best Rap/ Sung Performance for his collaboration with DJ Khaled and John Legend, “Higher.”

Nipsey’s debut album, Victory Lap, was nominated for Best Rap Album last year at the 2019 Gammys, although the award ultimately went to Cardi B’s Invasion of Privacy.

“Nipsey about to get a Grammy,” one Twitter user wrote. “It’s bittersweet because he should’ve gotten it while alive, but the recognition is appreciated.”

Lizzo cleaned house in this year’s Grammy nominations, being named in seven categories. Lil Nas X followed closely behind with five.

The 62nd Annual Grammy Awards, hosted by Alicia Keys, will be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Jan. 26 at 8 p.m. EST.
