CASISDEAD recruits La Roux for “Park Assist”

The track also comes with a matching futuristic visual.

The man formerly known as Castro has officially returned. Earlier this week (Sept. 13), CASISDEAD delivered the brand new single “Park Assist,” a collaborative effort with La Roux, a synthpop brand fronted by Elly Jackson — some hip hop heads might recognize her voice thanks to L.E.P. Bogus Boys’ breakout single “Goin’ In For The Kill,” which samples La Roux’s “In For The Kill.” Produced by Com Truise, the track sees the masked emcee delivering stream of consciousness raps about the lack of realness in today’s music:

“Niggas starting shit, try taint your name and tarnish it, now these kids spit, don’t believe in even half of it, talking ‘bout the strip, little pricks don’t know the half of it, soft as Häagen-Dazs, hark at him, he ain’t barking it, this gang shit’s gone pop now, that’s how they market it, it’s targeted...”

“Park Assist” also sees an accompanying visual that comes courtesy of Ed Skrein and zaps the viewers to what initially appears to be a post-apocalyptic future. The clip begins with a robotic woman waking CAS from his hibernation, before heading out on a ride in a vehicle perfect for a zombie takeover. He and his sidekick eventually end up at a lavish residence, and it becomes clear that CAS is there to dispatch Jackson. The video end with his seemingly firing his gun to do the deed.

“Park Assist” arrives three years after well-received singles like “Pat Earrings,” “Sugar Free,” and “Drive You Home.” His last full-length body of work, The Number 23, made landfall back in 2013, and contained 18 tracks with additional contributions from Jme, The Purist, Merky ACE, Sheg Nasa, Roska, and Faze Miyake. Hopefully, a debut album lies somewhere in CASISDEAD’s near future.
