After previewing cuts like “Only Fan,” “Go Get It,” and “Shine On The World,” today (Sept 10) Eric Bellinger finally unleashes his brand new project New Light. The LP is a star-studded affair donning features from Brandy, Sevyn, Dom Kennedy, Teedra Moses, Kierra Sheard, and The Game, as well as production from industry heavy hitters such as Zaytoven, OG Parker, Rodney Jerkins, Ayo & Keyz, and Jazze Pha among others. He also gift fans today with an official visual for his Sevyn-assisted cut “What About Us.” Directed by Young Chang, the beautifully shot video goes down memory lane, illustrating the demise of Bellinger and Sevyn’s love story:
What about me, what about love, what about us? What about us?/ Fell for a ting from the Westside, if I’m bein’ honest, TLC, no Left Eye, that’s all that she wanted/ How you gon’ unfollow me, leave me for the streets, babе? There’s no degree, how cold you could bе, bae
Recently, Eric Bellinger assisted BJ The Chicago kid in his BJ Wednesday’s series on their collab track “Type of Day,” and also Symphani Soto on her latest single “Just A Moment” and joined her for the official 2000’s-inspired music video as well. Earlier this summer, Eric Bellinger and Hitmaka teamed up for their joint 1-800-HIT-EAZY project. The recent body of work consists of 14 new tracks, all produced by Hitmaka, and includes just two features from Chrishan and Rahky.
“During the process of making this album, I found a new understanding of peace, my approach on this project was completely different from all my other albums, pushing me to move beyond my comfort zone, expanding my ability to grow,” Eric says about the album via press release. “This is a reintroduction to Eric Bellinger. I hope this album inspires people to love, grow, and discover themselves as well.”
