The song is a follow up to her February track “F.U.C.K.”

Today (Aug 5), Victoria Monét makes her return with her groovy new single “Coastin’.” The new breezy song is intended to be the perfect soundtrack to enjoy a day out in the sun. Furthermore, the track interpolates Keni Burke’s “Risin’ to the Top,” the song also famously sampled in Mary Jane Girls “All Night Long.” On the song, Victoria cruises along a beat courtesy of The Stereotypes:

Hey boy, don’t wanna waste your time, but thinkin’ of you is how I spend mine/ Tell me baby, baby, what’s your sign? ‘Cause you’re astronomically fine/ And all I do is think of you, baby, all I do is, is

Think of the way, the ways I wanna give you this ass/ Just how you like, feel like a Thursday how I’m throwin’ it back/ I’ma make it go North, South, East, West coast/ Baby, we can go North, South, East, West coast/ Just tell me how you want it, I got it

Victoria’s most recent single is “F.U.C.K.,” which made landfall back in February and was the first release to follow the critically heralded JAGUAR project. Back in October, she also linked up with Kehlani to release the official remix of “Touch Me.” When she’s not shining in front of the mic, her pen is still busy working. Monét is responsible for some of chart-topping hits, penning recently for artists like Chloe X Halle and Selena Gomez.

“If sunshine and a good time (and maybe a lil drank) were a song, it would be ‘Coastin,’’ says Monét about the new single via press release. “It’s made for people with that good, chill energy and the bassline instantly puts you in a certain feel! Shoutout to the Stereotypes for killing this production. We wanted this song to represent that freedom to finally go outside. After the year we’ve had, it feels even better to be able to finally Coast freely, make unforgettable memories and have a good ass time.”
