With next month being YNW Melly’s 18th month behind bars, fans are waiting eagerly for his return home. All it took was a short Instagram post for the 22-year-old rapper to rally his fans around the release of his newest project. In an era where a great number of young rappers are finding themselves with extensive criminal records, none seem to have made the most of it like YNW Melly. Despite having one of the most gruesome and despicable charges one can get, Melly, or rather his team, have made sure the past year and a half haven’t gone to waste. Today (Aug 13), Melly keeps his fans situated from prison with the release of his sophomore studio LP Just A Matter Of Slime.
Y’all miss me ??? Who wants a new Melly album ?? drop what collabs yall want to see in the comments n Ima get to it— Melvin & Melly 2 Face (@YNWMelly) March 31, 2021
Serving as the follow up to his 2019 debut album Melly Vs. Melvin, Just A Matter Of Slime has been on most people’s radars and is slated to run up more numbers based on the fact that his fans want to make sure he’s supported to the fullest extent as he awaits his trial. While rappers who are serving or who have served similar amounts of time— think Tay K, Bobby Shmurda— remain largely off the grid musically when behind bars, Melly has had some of the most successful moments of his career behind bars due to post-arrest releases. To get fans ready for the release, Melly dropped off the Lil Tjay assisted single “Best Friends 4L.”
Just A Matter Of Slime consists of a total of 12 records spawning features from a star studded lineup of guests including Lil Uzi Vert, Hotboii, Kodak Black, Lil Baby, Lil Durk, Young Thug, Queen Naija, Kevin Gates, Future, and Tee Grizzley. As we await YNW Melly’s trial, let’s keep him lifted in high spirits hope for the best. Tap into his latest effort and let us know your thoughts!
