This month, H.E.R. will release her official debut LP Back of My Mind, which boasts previously released cuts like “Damage,” “Come Through” with Chris Brown, “Hold On,” and “Slide” with YG. This past weekend, she added to that with a new single titled “We Made It,” a Flippa and DJ Camper-produced cut that acts as the album’s opening track and sounds as if H.E.R. is truly grateful for her fans and current successes:

“I’ve been really feelin’ like, always been a long time, there was early mornings, late nights, we was prayin’ for the sunshine, oh, and this whole time, I’ve been at it, if you want it outside, you won’t get it, can’t break me, I won’t let it, won’t let it, and now I feel like a milli’, I hope you rockin’ with me, before we was hot like the summer, before the wrist was chilly...”

Prior to Back of My Mind, H.E.R. made tsunami waves with her self-titled release, which was released back in 2017 and was first released in parts — or volumes — beginning a year prior. Altogether, H.E.R. saw 21 tracks with top quality cuts like “Focus,” “Jungle,” and “Best Part” with Daniel Caesar. Over the next couple of years, she would execute the same rollout with I Used to Know Her, a 19-track body of work with assists from Cordae, DJ Scratch, and Bryson Tiller, the last of whom made a big impact on the single “Could’ve Been.”

Considered one of the most remarkable musicians and performers of her generation, this past week saw H.E.R. taking to the stage for this year’s CMT Music Awards, performing “Hold On” alongside Chris Stapleton. A couple of months prior, she delivered a rousing rendition of the Judas and the Black Messiah standout “Fight For You” during the 93rd Academy Awards ceremony.
