Without question, G Perico has been delivering some of the most consistent raps over the past couple of years. His last full-length product was last August’s Ten-Eight, which saw 11 hard-hitting tracks and features from Garren, Sonny Digital, Az Chiki, and Bucho. Now, almost a year from that release comes a new single from the South Central emcee titled “Toolie,” which – as the title suggests – sees Perico keeping things very street over production from Girl Talk:

“I’ma gangster, b***h, I thought you knew, like every other n***a up in my crew, Big Ced, n***a, fresh out the fed/

Why you call that s*** blue when that s*** look red, n***a, ‘cause I’m hot, yeah, s*** done changed, since you said what you said, I can’t look you the same…/”

The track comes with a visual that sees G Perico out on the street performing the track with his crew, as well as in a room covered in graffiti paint. Perico also uses the clip to promote his new clothing line Blue Tshirt, which used alternating colors and words as a way to bring together street culture. Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, the So Way Out artist spoke on his intentions behind the brand, which boasts a shirt that says “BLUE” in red lettering:

“Blue Tshirt is basically creating your own world, how you see it and how you perceive the world and whatever you wanna do… It’s basically like no limits on anything.”

In addition to “Toolie,” this year has also seen G Perico contributing to songs by Terrace Martin, Vanderslice, and Jay Worthy on the tracks “Pig Feet,” “Barry White S***,” and “Routine,” respectively. It’s hopeful that, with the new cut making its rounds, a new body of work is soon to follow.
