D.C.’s own Shy Glizzy seems ready to give fans a follow-up to last year’s well-received effort Covered n’ Blood, which saw 12 tracks and assists from YoungBoy Never Broke Again and 3 Glizzy, and the five-track sleeper EP Aloha. Over the weekend, he blessed his fans with the new single “Lonely Vibes,” which shows him mixing antisocial subject matter with bars for the streets he’s derived from:
“Ay, let’s call baddies, you ain’t got none, ay, my nina glizzy is a tefflon/
Ay, you play with Gigi, get your head blown, I was on the move and now he dead and gone/
They took thirty and it killed my soul, I do anything to protect my bros/
I’m trappin’ bags but you ain’t tryna go to war, just send the addy, bet we pop up at your door.../”
The track is said to appear on the forthcoming third installment of Shy’s Young Jefe series — the previous two drops were released in 2014 and 2016, respectively. The accompanying futuristic clip was directed by LouieKnows and sees Shy performing alone in his residence and in front of a plane wreckage, giving off feelings of isolation and matching with the song’s melodic subject matter. “Lonely Vibes” follows his last video for “Blood Bath,” which featured assistance from Canadian star Pressa.
