Ever since the release of “Caroline,” Aminé’s star has been steadily rising within the hip hop stratosphere. Following that single’s success, the Portland star has continued to crank out his brand of creative, witty raps, releasing his debut Good For You and the follow-up OnePointFive in 2017 and 2018, respectively. In comparison, last year had been relatively quiet, save for the very dope “Places + Faces” and collaborations with the likes of Rejjie Snow, Snakehips, Lykke Li, and Injury Reserve. This week, Aminé makes his official return with the new track “Shimmy,” which takes from Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s classic cut “Shimmy Shimmy Ya” and sees Aminé flexing his lyrical prowess over production from Pasqué, Maneesh, Vinylz and Boi-1da:

The accompanying music video keeps with the theme of Animé’s past clips, which have all typically been both hilariously absurd and beautifully creative. The rapper can be seen dancing and performing around various locations, including the literal edge of a cliff, a speedboat in motion and what looks like Portland’s Providence Park. The Jack Begert co-directed visual simply doesn’t stop, keeping with the intensity of the high-quality track.
