GoldLink is officially back with some new music. It’s been well over a year since the DMV artist released his debut studio album Diaspora, which saw 14 tracks and additional appearances from Pusha T, Khalid, Tyler, The Creator, WSTRN’s Haile, WizKid, Jackson Wang, and more. Today, he makes a big return to music with a new single titled “Best Rapper in the Fuckin World,” a collaboration with KAYTRANADA that comes off like a stream-of-consciousness freestyle of sorts:

“Freaky like Adina, sing songs like Alina, wet like Aquafina, legs slippery light like Gina’s, this my baby momma shit, she like when I rhyme like this, baby like when talk like this but you still ride baby momma whip/

Pac when I get too real, Pop then I got two deals, Ant won’t do it then Luke will, and the gun jam and I shoot still/”

Prior to the track’s release, GoldLink took to Instagram to tease what could possibly be an accompanying visual in the works. It’s hopeful that this also means that more music — and perhaps a new body of work — is on the way as well.

In addition to Diaspora, last year also saw GoldLink falling into controversy due to a post dedicated to the late Mac Miller, which seemed to accuse the Pittsburgh artist of taking from GoldLink’s 2015 debut And After That, We Didn’t Talk to create The Divine Feminine — a stance that he later attempted to clarify during a concert. As previously reported by REVOLT:

“Divine Feminine was an actual blueprint of and after that, we didn’t talk,” he wrote. “Your single was called “Dang!” Ft. Anderson Paak…you had Souelction support you on the Divine Feminine tour and when I tried to contact you, about anything at all…you never hit me.”
