CPO Boss Hogg, former 2Pac collaborator and Death Row Records artist, has sadly passed away.

On Thursday (Jan. 13), the death of Boss Hogg, whose real name is Vince Edwards, was confirmed by the late rapper’s friend Chad Kiser on Instagram. “Rest In Paradise CPO!” he captioned a photo of himself with the Compton, California native. “Thank you for the talks, the support, and the encouragement! You will be missed!”

In a statement to Kiser, Boss Hogg’s former mentor MC Ren said, “Man, I’ve been knowing him since I was a little kid. To grow up and be able to produce an album for him was priceless. Incredible emcee and a very very good person.”

Danny Peterson, aka C-Note, said in a statement to Kiser that Boss Hogg was “one of the most underrated rappers in hip hop history. He was a big guy, with a big heart. I love him, and I miss him. And one thing about Vince, he preferred for people to refer to him as a writer, rather than a rapper. He was passionate about his writing more than his rapping. He loved writing poems, and he was working on a science-fiction book. I wish he would have had the opportunity to finish.”

Details about the rapper’s death have not been made public yet, however, he had substantial health challenges in his life. A few years ago, he survived congenital heart failure.

Boss Hogg was initially known as Lil Nation in the group Capital Punishment Organization with members Young D and DJ Train. Under Capitol records, they released their debut studio album To Hell and Black. The group also appeared on N.W.A.’s song “Findum, Fuckum & Flee.”

After changing his name to his current moniker, Boss Hogg later joined Death Row Records. He made appearances on the soundtracks for Murder Was the Case and Above the Rim. However, his biggest hit happened on 2Pac’s All Eyez On Me.

The REVOLT team would like to send our condolences to Boss Hogg’s family and friends. May he rest in peace. Check out Kiser’s post below.
