Kanye West, who has a history of finding and molding talent, is still keeping his ear to the streets. During a recent New York City trip, the Donda star gave an aspiring rapper the opportunity to showcase his lyrical abilities.

In a clip that has been shared on social media, the emcee — who goes by the name Loner — approaches West with hopes to spit a couple of bars for him. He eventually convinced the Chicago native to let him freestyle and proceeded to rap, receiving impromptu ad-libs from Ye along the way. With encouragement from West, he then shared his Instagram information with those watching, and the two went their separate ways.

Loner’s unbelievable opportunity came amid Yeezy’s date with actress Julia Foxx, who’s already opened up about their budding relationship. According to her first-person account on Interview Magazine, she had “an instant connection” with the Graduation lyricist when they met in Miami on New Year’s Eve.

“His energy is so fun to be around. He had me and my friends laughing, dancing and smiling all night,” she said. They have since gone on two dates: an outing to see the  Broadway show Slave Play and a dinner date, which was followed by a surprise photoshoot complete with “an entire hotel suite full of clothes.”

“It was every girl’s dream come true,” Foxx said of the shoot. “It felt like a real Cinderella moment. I don’t know how he did it, or how he got all of it there in time. But I was so surprised.” She is now eager to see what else Ye has in store. “Everything with us has been so organic,” she wrote. “I don’t know where things are headed, but if this is any indication of the future I’m loving the ride.”
