Just before the new year arrived, Covaboy blessed his masses with the EP Thanks For Coming, which contains five dope cuts with production from Ill Wonka, Storm, DXOR, and Skeyez. Today (Jan. 3), he drops off a new visual from said project for “Been Platinum,” a bass-heavy number that sees Covaboy speaking on his life and stomping grounds by way of some of his most vivid bars to date:

“Dice games in my laundry-mat, servin’ where the zombies at, I know that you can’t ponder that, we sleepin’ where the homi’s at, the pressure where them commas at, the booth where I’m most honest at, the blessings where my mama at, then right back where the drama at…”

Covaboy further explained the creation of “Been Platinum” via press release:

I felt I had to do this song because people [are] not used to hearing me on these type of beats, so I wanted to prove a point. I called it ‘Been Platinum’ because where I’m from (‘Jesse’s World‘), when people see me, they give me my flowers, they tell me I’m a legend with the rap shit to them already.”

Last year, Covaboy made huge waves with the EP Silver Sity, a nine-track body of work that saw noted features from Garren, King Quell, Abdou, Tracie Josephine, and Curren$y — the last of whom provided some assistance on the runaway hit “S.F.H. (Soundtrack For the Hustlers).” As the title gives way to, that project was based around Covaboy’s upbringing within the Washington, D.C. suburb of Silver Spring. Months following that, the DMV talent would then upgrade Silver Sity with a deluxe edition, adding on two additional songs for the fans to enjoy.
