Now that the highly-anticipated return of Donald Glover’s critically acclaimed, Emmy Award-winning TV series “Atlanta” has been announced — fans are counting down the days to the season 3 premiere on March 24, 2022. It’s been three years since we last saw Earn, played by Glover; Alfred, a.k.a. “Paper Boi” (Brian Tyree Henry); Darius (Lakeith Stanfield) and Van (Zazie Beetz) embark on one of their entertaining misadventures. Now, the gang is in Europe for Paper Boi’s tour and we can’t wait to see what happens next.

In the meantime, FX Networks released a new trailer for the show on Saturday (Dec. 25). And by the looks of it, season 3 of “Atlanta” will be worth the wait. According to FX, this season takes place almost entirely in Europe. The crew — Earn, Paper Boi, Darius and Van — “navigates their new surroundings as outsiders, and struggles to adjust to the newfound success they had aspired to.”

FX Entertainment President Eric Schrier recently shared his excitement for the show’s return in a press release: “We are thrilled to have ‘Atlanta’ back with a new season on March 24th,” he said. “Once again, Donald Glover, the producers and stellar cast have delivered another signature season synonymous with the excellence that makes ‘Atlanta’ so great.”

Season three was announced shortly after season two concluded — nearly four years ago. The plan was for the show to return in 2019, however scheduling conflicts led to delays.

Last November, Glover took to Twitter in a rare social media sighting to let his followers know the wait will be worthwhile. “While I’m here: “Atlanta” s3+s4 are going to be some of the best television ever made,” he tweeted. “Sopranos only ones who can touch us.” The first two episodes are expected to debut on March 24th. The show will also be available to watch the next day on Hulu.
