Snoop Dogg has teamed up with 50 Cent to document a critical moment in his career. According to Deadline, Starz is developing A Moment in Time: Murder was the Case, a scripted series about the Algorithm rapper’s murder trial.

Snoop was accused of killing rival gang member Philip Woldermariam in 1993, prompting murder charges and increased sales for his debut album Doggystyle and its most popular single “Murder was the Case.” The first season of the series will reportedly chronicle Snoop’s fight on camera and behind the scenes to prove that his bodyguard, who acted in self-defense, was behind the fatal shooting.

“I am excited to finally tell the story of Murder was the Case,” the West Coast legend told Deadline. “This was a pivotal moment in my life and career, and I’ve deliberately waited until I found the right partner to bring this to the screen. You are now about to witness the strength of street knowledge.”

Murder was the Case is an incredible story. Snoop had the biggest album in the country and was fighting for his freedom in the courtroom” 50 added in a statement. “The only place to go on this incredible ride is with G-Unit Film & Television. I’m excited to be working with Snoop to bring it to television.”

The Murder was the Case announcement comes nearly a month after 50 teased the idea for the show on social media.

“I’m afraid this is going to be a problem for everything on TV,” he tweeted at the time. “A moment in time (MURDER WAS THE CASE ) when the dream you have been wishing for feels like a nightmare. You think you know you have no idea.”

Per Deadline, Starz is in a search of a writer for the project. 50, however, already believes the show “will break all viewership records” on the network.
