It’s Legendary Lade and I’m back with another column for Kickin’ Facts. We’re getting close to the end of the year, so naturally, I’m reflecting on all the sneakers that dropped and which ones were favorites, most hyped, underrated, etc. So start compiling your lists now because I will be touching on this subject very soon!

I want y’all to know Kickin’ Facts is not just a regular sneaker column. I cover all things art, fashion, style, and culture, and my goal is not only for you to get a sneaker review but also to gain some knowledge after reading. Hopefully, you learn something you didn’t know, or an idea is sparked.

Nevertheless, the end of the year, coinciding with the holiday season, is always jam-packed with blockbuster releases from our favorite brands and my latest pair is certainly along those lines.

The KAWS x sacai x Nike Blazer Low by designer Chitose Abe and artist Kaws was first revealed as part of sacai’s “Wearable Art” collection earlier this year. No stranger to the footwear industry, American artist Brian Donnelly — better known as “Kaws” — has already collaborated with brands such as Jordan, DC, and Bape, just to name a few. Originally a graffiti artist from New York, Kaws has permeated every strand and facet of the art world. His sneakers, figurines, life-size sculptures, paintings, and even cereal boxes are synonymous with cool and beloved by everyone from toddlers to the elderly.

This first colorway of four features the stacked Blazer design reimagined with Kaws’ colorful brushstrokes. The smooth leather upper is finished in Neptune blue, an ode to the 8th planet no doubt. Added to its low-top design are multicolored laces, suede double swooshes, and an elongated double tongue with motifs from all three participants. Kaws signature “XX” finishes at the white midsole for a lasting impression. What are your thoughts on this pair? Future grails or nah?

The KAWS x sacai Nike Blazer Low “Team Red” and “Neptune Blue” released on Nov. 26 and were priced at $140.
