Following his exciting announcement of his forthcoming blacksummers’NIGHT album, the legendary Maxwell has unleashed his new single “OFF” and its accompanying music video to prep eager fans for what is to come. Directed by frequent collaborator Philip Andelman and shot in a vast expanse of desert, the video is a stunning counterpart to the intimate single. On “OFF,”  Maxwell taps into his signature seductive spirit:

I’m in the zone, am I alone? I fear that you don’t agree, oh/ Do you believe, babe? Do you feel deceived, bae? Decisions like this are not meant to be made alone/ Can I come through and see? Will you receive me, uh?

I’m shootin’ all my shots I won’t miss them, no, oh I’m giving all I got/ Never ever ever this go, oh no no and if I hit that spot/ Accept the mission and go… OFF/ Turn down the shades, let’s drink lemonade, I know you’re here to set me free/ Aye, set me free, set me free

The aforementioned album is set to make landfall next spring. This past Sunday, Maxwell also received the “Legend” Award at the 2021 Soul Train Awards where he accepted the honor while expressing his lasting gratitude.

Maxwell will support his upcoming album with the “NIGHT 2022 Tour” across North America in partnership with the Black Promoters Collective – the preeminent coalition of African American independent promoters. The 25-date run kicks off in Dallas, TX at Texas Trust CU Theater, visits legendary arenas such as Barclays Center in Brooklyn and The Forum in Los Angeles, and concludes at FTX Arena in Miami, FL on May 8. Anthony Hamilton and Joe have been confirmed as support.
