Louis Vuitton will present Virgil Abloh’s final collection this week to “pay tribute to the life and legacy of a creative genius.”

According to People, Michael Burke, Chairman and CEO of the French fashion house, said in a statement that it was the late designer’s “wishes” for the show to go on. “It is with profound sorrow that I learned of the passing of Virgil Abloh,” Burke stated. “Virgil was not only a friend, great collaborator, creative genius, visionary and disruptor, but also one of the best cultural communicators of our times. He paved the way for future generations. As a devoted supporter of his community through his charities and passions, he was an eternal optimist who believed anything was possible.”

“In this same spirit, we at Louis Vuitton will proudly continue to celebrate his legacy with a final show in Miami, per his wishes. I am honored to have called him my friend. My deepest thoughts are with his wife, children, parents, family and the entire community that was touched by his greatness.”

As REVOLT previously reported, Abloh sadly passed away on Sunday (Nov. 28) after silently battling a rare form of cancer. A statement, which was posted by the 41-year-old’s family, revealed that he was diagnosed with cardiac angiosarcoma in 2019, but kept his diagnosis a secret from the public. “Through it all, his work ethic, infinite curiosity, and optimism never wavered,” Abloh’s family said. “Virgil was driven by his dedication to his craft and to his mission to open doors for others and create pathways for greater equality in art and design.”

Following the news of his death, several celebrities took to social media to send their condolences, including Pharrell, who tweeted that his “heart is broken.”

Kanye West, Abloh’s longtime friend and collaborator, dedicated his latest Sunday Service to the late Off-White founder. The message, “In loving memory of Virgil Abloh, the creative director of Donda,” was displayed on the screen toward the end of the program.

Abloh’s final Spring-Summer collection will be presented on Tuesday (Nov. 30) at 5:30 p.m. ET in Miami. Check out the post from Louis Vuitton below.
