“In the song I said 100 B’s, but it was really 65,000 bees on me. This not photoshopped neither. I HAD 65,000 Bee’s on me… love to the bee hive. I just ain’t want y’all to think it was some damn effects or some shit,” writes Big Sean in the caption of his recent Instagram post of him sitting calmly in a chair while 65,000 bees swarm around him. The photo is from a scene in his latest video “What A Life” were he plays out various scenes based on reflections of different phases of his life. On the song, he keeps the streets fed with his bars over some Hit-Boy production:

Only get one life, swear I almost died twice (Woo) I went triple platinum more than three times, what a life, man (Life)/ Feel like God when they bless me with the trick dice (Bitch) and I left her ass on read, even though it was enticin’/ I ain’t married yet, so it’s Rocky on my right hand (Woah) and I’m on stage, by my side with the hype man

Go ahead then, tell me what your price is, mine’s is a hundred B’s, n***a, you can’t swipe this/ Lost my appetite the way you bitches be bitin’ I’m off no sleep, day shit, plus the night shift/ Ho, quit askin’ when I’m free, I’m always priceless

Last year was a great one for Big Sean — September brought forth Sean’s fifth studio album Detroit 2, the sequel to 2012’s Detroit that boasted 21 cuts with a wealth of features from Nipsey Hussle, Post Malone, Ty Dolla $ign, Jhené Aiko, Anderson .Paak, Wale, Young Thug, Travis Scott, Lil Wayne, and a collective of fellow Detroit peers, among many others. Detroit 2 was Sean’s third number-one album thanks to 103,000 first-week album equivalent units. More recently, he celebrated past successes with the 10th anniversary deluxe edition of his debut LP Finally Famous, along with an unreleased reflection on his 2010 inclusion into XXL’s Freshman class.
