It’s the beginning of a new era for Cozz as he releases his new single “Fortunate” today (Oct. 22). The new track comes accompanied by a music video as well, which opens up with a scene of him driving through the city as his thoughts take over and things take a turn:

I tend to drink while I drive, don’t know why, I am so fortunate, I’m still alive/ I don’t make me lose my mellow, I ain’t LaLa, they gon’ ask for me, like the Wi-Fi/ Hit ‘em and go, flee (Hit ‘em go) n***as gettin’ no cheese, n***a be charged up (Charged up) ain’t gettin’ no fee/

Now n***as who OD get high as the nosebleeds and I’m so fortunate (Fortunate) I’m in the floor seats/ Live my life on the edge (On the edge) I’m surprised I’m alive/ When I prayed He heard every word I said he heard every word I said (I said) Remember fightin’ for my life

The Dreamville veteran made sure to take some time to share some words of appreciation for frequent collaborator Cedric Brown as well as Jay Kurzweil, T-Minus, and head honcho J. Cole for their contributions on the production end of the track. He also went on to explain how this new single is a way to show off the different sides of him as an artist. “This is a new version of Cozz but also still me so I’m excited for y’all to hear my range as an artist. Fortunate to share this one with y’all. This is only the beginning and once this starts I ain’t stopping,” he wrote.

Cozz’s last official full-length body of work was 2018’2 Effected, and before that was Cozz & Effect. In the meantime, he could be heard dishing out show-stopping verses on the infamous Revenge of the Dreamers compilations.
