Summer Walker is tired of people complaining to her about her new JT-assisted single “Ex For A Reason.”

Last Friday (Oct. 15), the highly anticipated track from her forthcoming album dropped on streaming services, but it did not receive the response that songs from the Over It singer usually get. Walker chose to address the backlash on social media. “Stop @-ing me,” she wrote on her Instagram Story. “The first song I wanted to release was called ‘Toxic’ but we here now. I had no say in making this decision. So, let’s just move past it now. We’re here now, so leave me alone.”

Fans took to social media to express their disappointment with the single. Twitter user @IAMLEAH_TERI wrote, “8 people got song writing credits on ‘Ex For A Reason’ & I been playing OVER IT for almost 2 years waiting on you to push another album for this to be the result …….. Played this shit bout 10 times and I still don’t like it and I’m sad asf about it #summerwalker #ExforAReason.”

“[Summer Walker] Please we don’t want no TikTok trend songs…we want our cool, sad girl song to cry on and still get over a nigga ..pls love you,” tweeted @Bunnynose21.

Social media user @itssnyawan tweeted, “I feel like ‘Ex For A Reason’ will eventually grow on me but rn it’s really not hitting & idk how to feel about that. Summer Walker wozgoinon?”

Walker is gearing up to release her sophomore album titled Still Over It, a follow-up to her No. 1 album Over It, which was released in 2019. Her debut project garnered the biggest streaming week for an R&B album by a female artist in over three years — since Beyonce’s Lemonade LP. The record featured appearances by Bryson Tiller, Jhené Aiko, Drake, Usher, 6LACK and more.
