Young Thug and Gunna destroyed a Rolls Royce to promote the former’s upcoming studio album Punk, which arrives this Friday (Oct. 15). Late on Tuesday night (Oct. 12), the two YSL rappers were filmed taking bats to the luxury vehicle with abandon.

Metro Boomin was also seen smashing the car, which featured the word “Punk” in pink spray paint. The spectacle is the latest stunt in Thug’s Punk promo run, which also included an album release party on Tuesday evening at West Hollywood’s Delilah. This weekend, Thugger is also slated to perform cuts from the effort on “Saturday Night Live.”

As videos of Thug and Gunna’s Rolls Royce demolition made Twitter rounds on Wednesday (Oct. 13), some fans compared the stunt to Kanye West and JAY-Z’s “Otis” music video, in which the pair took apart a Maybach 57.

“Nothing screams out ‘Promoting Thug’s new album’ more than trashing a Rolls,” one fan tweeted.

Young Thug has been teasing Punk’ s release since sharing his 2019 album, So Much Fun. Over the summer, the Atlanta native debuted four songs off the project and announced its release date during his “Tiny Desk (Home)” performance.

“This album Punk that I’m going to put out soon is probably going to be the best album because it really teaches you… gives you life situations,” Thugger told Rolling Stone last year. “It’s teaching [that] I’m human. I am you. I am him. It’s very verbal. I think it’ll probably be the best album even though it’s not out.”

Speaking with The Fader, Thug also explained that Punk is based on “real life” situations and was inspired by Tupac.

Tupac could be one of the biggest rappers in the world because he rapped what he rapped about,” he told the outlet at the time. “I had conversations with JAY-Z and he told me, ‘We gotta learn how to continue what Pac had going. Pac was a teacher. Pac teaches.’”
